What We Believe

There is one and only one true and living God. He is the sovereign creator and ruler of the universe. He is infinitely holy, perfect, and He alone has sovereign control over all that exists, and that cannot be threatened. God, as eternal triune, reveals Himself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These distinct personal attributes are without division of nature, essence, or being.

The Bible was and is God-inspired and written by men whom He used to give us a reliable, inerrant declaration of truth. Because it is His word, the Bible will stand forever. It is the full and final authority of all matters of faith and practice.

God as Father reigns with providential care over His universe. He is both personal and almighty. He is all-powerful, ever present, all-knowing, and ever loving.

Jesus Christ as the Son of God is uncreated and eternal. He willingly took on human flesh, so that He might offer Himself as a perfect substitute for mankind. He lived a perfect life, died a human death on a cross and shed His blood to cover our sins. Having been buried, Jesus was raised bodily in resurrection. He is the only means by which people can be made right with God. It is through faith in Him that we can have eternal life.

The Holy Spirit is fully God and is actively present in the world today. He is the One who convinces people of their sin and need for salvation. The Holy Spirit gives life to Christ-followers and empowers them to live a transformed life. He is manifested in believers by producing the character of Christ and by giving believers the ability to build up the Church through supernatural gifts.

Human beings are the special creation of God, both male and female, made in His own image. Humans are the crowing work of God's creation. Without Christ, every human being is separated from a relationship with God. Our own disobedience is what the Bible calls sin. Every human being has dignity and value because God has created us in His image.

All people rebelled against God by their deliberate disobedience to His will. Left in that condition, every individual will face a final judgement before God. This will reveal our guilt and result in eternal separation from God. By His love, God has made it possible for anyone to experience a radical transformation, which the Bible says is a new birth and which results in being saved. God will mercifully grant people the faith that allows one to fully trust Him to transform. Only those who have surrendered to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord will be saved.

The Church is being established by Jesus. The Bible refers to the Church as the Body of Christ and the Bride of Christ. This dwelling place of Christ speaks to an integral and intimate relationship with Jesus. Only those who have been saved, through faith, are actually part of that Church. The outward evidence of salvation includes confessing Jesus as Lord, being baptized by immersion, and a sincere effort to live wholly yielded to God through the help of the Holy Spirit. The Church gathers regularly to experience community, learn the truths of God's word, to pray with one another, and to worship in community. One of the special ways that we remember Christ's sacrifice is through the Lord's Supper.
